Preparation
Step 1
The Super Bowl is quickly approaching and that means that it is time to start dusting off some recipes for snacking! I am a big fan of hot melted cheese dips and I had an idea for a new one, a bacon double cheese burger dip that has all of the flavours of a bacon double cheese burger. Beef is the main part of a burger so I started out there and I added some ingredients that I commonly add to burgers including onions, garlic and worcestershire sauce. Next up was the bacon and then the cheese and I included both cheddar for the flavour and mozzarella for the stringy melted goodness. I went with the standard hot melted cheese dip ingredients including the cream cheese, mayonnaise and sour cream to form the base of the dip. One final touch was the addition of ketchup as it is a pretty standard condiment used in burgers. All of the ingredients are then mixed together and baked until the cheeses all melt and start to brown and get all bubbly.
Whether at home watching the big game or out or tailgating this dip would make an excellent addition to your snacking delights!
A hot cheesy baked dip with all of the flavours of a bacon double cheese burger that makes for some great game day snacking!
Servings: makes 4+ servings
Directions
Cook the ground beef in a pan over medium heat, set it aside and drain the grease from the pan.
Add the onion and saute until tender, about 5-7 minutes.
Add the garlic and saute until fragrant, about a minute.
Mix the ground beef, bacon, onions and garlic, cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, mozzarella, cheddar, worcestershire sauce and ketchup and pour it into a baking dish.
Bake in a preheated 350F oven until the top starts turning a light golden brown and then sides are bubbling, about 20-30 minutes.
: Implement steps 1 & 2, optionally implement steps 3 & 4, mix everything, place it in the slow cooker and cook until the cheese is nice and melted about 1-2 hours on high or 2-4 hours on low.
This recipe makes me VERY glad I don't eat meat...because if I did, I'd be in danger of making and eating a whole batch of this!
Serious delicious grub this Kevin, make sure you have enough dipping material!!
This is dangerous stuff Kevin. I do love the veggies added to the top!!
You make the most amazing dips! I would definitely have to add the lettuce and tomato, looks so good! Forget the superbowl, I'm gonna make this today :)
I so can't wait to show this to my boyfriend. I know he would love to make this.
This looks incredible! I think my husband will want to marry me all over again when I make this for him! Thanks for sharing!
This is such a great idea and perfect for football food. This makes me think about making something like a big mac cheeseburger dip...this one sounds completelyco delish though!
This look so good! What a great idea to add the fresh produce on top - I can't wait to try. Thank you for sharing. :)
MUST. MAKE. THIS.
I'm going to make this, and also dice up some pickles to put on the side, since I'm not sure if they'll go with it (maybe might clash with the bacon). Of course I'll be topping with lettuce and tomato, thanks!
Wow!!! I just posted a comment on your yummy Pizza Dip...I was going to make the pizza dip for Super Bowl...However, now that I've seen this recipe....Hello Burger dip....Thanks Kevin!
SecretDinnerService & Shreela: I was thinking about adding pickles as well!
This recipe will cause anarchy and I love it, Its so nice to see variations on the classics.
This seriously looks beyond divine. I'm planning to make it very soon.
So what do you do with the onion and garlic mixture?
taty678: Mix the onions and garlic into the dip with everything else.
Deslih! I doubled the recipe and added about a tablespoon of yellow mustard and some Frank's Red Hot and it was perfect! Eat it fast, cuz it's really better hot than cold! Thanks for the recipe!
Anonymous & hb0688: You can definitely make this the night before and then bake it the next day.
Do you think this would work in a crockpot? We havea potluck.at work and I would.love xxdto take this recipe, bit no way to heat it up at woddddddddddddrk
Hi.... Love your recipes but have one problem I am allergic to Mayo/Salad dressing. Can I either double the sour cream or add maybe plain greek yogurt as a substitute? Thanks
Laura: You can definitely make this in a crockpot!
Awesome!!! Only change I made was I mixed everything together, microwaved for 2 minutes stirred, 2 more minutes, served, delicious!
Do you think thos dip could be heated in a crockpot instead of baking in the oven?
Steve and Karen Yoder: Yes you could use a crockpot to make this dip!
Joy: I think the mayo adds a lot of flavour but you could replace it with more sour cream.
Could you make this ahead of time and refrigerate it?
Courtney: Yes, you can make this ahead of time and then reheat it when ready to serve.
Hey Kevin, you might have already answered this above somewhere, but I was just wondering if you knew how much time this would take to heat up if you were to assemble the cooked items in a crockpot. Potluck season is upon us! I'm thinking the guys at work wil love this recipe! :-)
mmmm!!!! made this for the 49er game today with a little twist, I <3 pickles & mustard on my burgers & had some dill relish in the fridge that definitely makes it a true "burger" for me. Delicious thanks for the great recipe!!! :)
Made this for Super Bowl Sunday and the family asked me to make it again for Oscars night later this month. Tasty. Thanks!
Made this for my boyfriend and his friends watching the NASCAR Gatorade Duels on DVR tonight. Amazing doesn't even do it justice! The only thing I tweaked was adding a squirt of spicy mustard and a few splashes of Tabasco sauce. You are a genius for this recipe!
My husband and I never add lettuce or tomato on our burgers so this recipe is simply perfect for us. It ridiculously delicious and easy to make. Thank you, Kevin! YOU ROCK!!
Hey Kevin, a friend of mine is getting married next weekend, she requested this dip for her reception. I need to make approx enough to fill two half size buffet pans (total of 8qts), could you tell me about how many times to multiply the ingredients of this dip. Or maybe the yield of the recipe above. I see it serves 4plus, but didn't see the total yield. Thanks so much!
I need to make this for my next tailgate party!
this looks incredibly amazing!! I can't wait till I get all the ingredients I need to make it! :)
