When seawater evaporates in protected pools along shorelines, what remains is sea salt. Sea salt adds crunch to baked goods, but it's not as salty as table salt and should not be substituted for it in recipes.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup hot caramel topping, such as Smucker's Hot Caramel Topping
  • 2 sleeves buttery round crackers
  • 1 (16-ounce) package chocolate-flavored candy coating, melted
  • 1 tablespoon sea salt

Preparation

Step 1

Sandwich approximately 1/2 teaspoon caramel between two crackers.
Using two forks, dip into candy coating to completely coat;
sprinkle with sea salt.
Set on wax paper to dry.
Repeat with remaining ingredients.
Let set for 1 hour.
Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
