  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/4 t salt
  • 1 cup butter, cut up
  • 1 - 8 ounce pkg cream cheese, cut up
  • 1 egg beaten with 1 T water
  • Apricot Preserves
  • Almond Paste

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375 degrees
Process flour and salt in food processor, add butter and cream cheese and process until well combined.
Divide dough in half, wrap in plastic wrap, chill 1 hour.
Roll to 1/8", use 2" heart cookie cutter, place 1/2 heart on ungreased cookie sheet. Place scant 1/4 t apricot preserves and 1/4 t almond paste in center of each heart.
Brush cookie edges with egg mixture, top with other heart cutouts. Press together and seal with tines of fork.
Brush finished cookies with egg mixture and sprinkle with coarse or pearl sugar. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes
