  • 3 cans clams, juice reserved
  • 2 cups diced celery
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 4-5 potatoes, cut into small cubes
  • 4 cups milk or half and half, divided
  • 1/4 lb. butter or more to taste
  • 8 tablespoons flour

Step 1

In large pot, cook celery about 15 minutes in clam juice. Add onions and potatoes. Cook until tender. Add clams, butter and 3 cups milk. Combine flour and 1 cup milk. Add to chowder to thicken.
