Ingredients

  • Boil together in lg. (1 gal.) pan:
  • 1 1/2 cups molasses
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 3/4 tsp. ginger
  • Add:
  • Tbs. Soda dissolved in .56 cup hot water. Cool to lukewarm then add:
  • 3 eggs beaten
  • 3/4 tsp. allspice
  • 3/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 3/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/4 + 1/2 tsp. salt

Step 1

Add enough flour to make a soft dough (about 7 1/2 cups. Roll out ½” thick and cut. Bake at 375° for 8-10 minutes. Frost with white frosting.
