Ingredients
- 1 long french loaf
- 8 large eggs
- 750 ml milk
- 20 ml sugar
- 2 ml salt
- 15 ml vanilla
- 75 ml melted butter or margarine

Step 1
Cut bread into 1 inch slices and arrange in one layer in the bottom of greased 13x9 inch pan. In a large bowl, beat eggs with the remaining ingredients except butter. When thoroughly mixed, pour over bread in pans. Cover with foil and refrigerate up to 24 hours. To bake, uncover pans, drizzle bread with butter and put pans in the oven. Turn oven to 350 degrees and bake 45-50 minutes, until bread is puffy and lightly browned. Remove from oven and let stand for 5 minutes before serving. Makes 8 servings. Serve with a choice of syrup, honey, fancy molasses or jelly.
NOTE: A liberal dusting of cinnamon may be added just before baking.
