  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter or shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup oatmeal
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1 t soda
  • 1/2 t vanilla
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup nuts, if desired
  • raisens, if desired

Mix all together and drop by teaspoon onto ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350* for 10 minutes
