    c all purpose flour

  • 3/4

    c sugar

  • 6

    T baking cocoa, divided

  • 2

    t baking powder

  • 1/4

    t salt

  • 1/2

    c milk

  • 2

    T vegetable oil

  • 1

    t vanilla extract

  • 1

    c packed brown sugar

  • 1 3/4

    c hot water

  • Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, optional

Directions

In med bowl combine flour, sugar, 2 T cocoa, baking powder & salt. Stir in milk, oil & vanilla until smooth. Spread in ungreased 9 in square baking pan. Combine brown sugar & remaining cocoa; sprinkle over batter. Pour hot water over all; do not stir. Bake at 350 for 35-40 min. Serve warm. Top with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream if desired.
