Bulk Brownie Mix

This is a recipe from Taste of Home's Quick Cooking. Although at the time of this entry I have not tried it, I intend to because our family is a big brownie-fan, family.

Ingredients
- 8 C sugar
- 4 C all purpose flour
- 2 1/2 C baking cocoa
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 4 tsp. salt
- 2 C shortening

Step 1
Combine the sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Store in air tight container in cool dry place for up to 6 months.
To make a batch of brownies:
4 C brownie mix
4 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/3 C chopped walnuts (optional)
1 C semi sweeet chocolate chips
Combine brownie mix, eggs and vanilla. Mix well. Fold in walnuts (if desired) and chocolate chips. Pour into greased 9 x 13 pan. Bake for 350 for 35 min. or until toothpick comes out clean.
