Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb Italian sausage
  • 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 2 cloves garlic,crushed
  • 2 T sugar
  • 1 T salt
  • Italian seasoning to taste
  • 1/4 t pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 4 cups canned tomatoes, undrained
  • 2 cans (6 oz) tomato paste
  • 1 T salt
  • 12 oz oven ready lasagne noodles
  • 1-15 oz container ricotta
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 12 oz mozarella, thinly sliced
  • 3/4 cup parmesan cheese

Step 1

Saute ground beef, onion, garlic and sausage until well browned. Add sugar, 1T. salt, Italian seasoning, pepper & 1/2 of parsley. Mix well. Add tomatoes, tomato paste & 1/2 cup water. Bring to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer covered until thick- about 1-1/2 hrs.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Combine ricotta, egg, parsley and salt. In bottom of pan spoon 1-1/2 cups sauce. Layer with 6 noodles. Spread with 1/2 of ricotta mixture. Top with 1/3 of mozarella cheese. Spoon 1-1/2 cups sauce over cheese. Sprinkle with 1/4 cup parmesan cheese. Repeat layering starting with 6 noodles and ending with parmesan. Spread with remaining sauce. Top with rest of cheeses.Cover with foil. Bake 25 min, remove foil and bake 25 min longer. Cool 15 min. before cutting.
