Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine, room temperature
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 large apple, pared, cored and cut into 1/4-inch-thick wedges
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 c. coarsely chopped almonds

Step 1

Cream together the butter and the ½ c. sugar. Add eggs and beat until fluffy. Stir in vanilla and flour, mixing well. Place apple wedges into cake batter to form a circular pattern. Mix together ¼ c. sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle over cake. Sprinkle top with almonds. Bake at 375° for 40 min. or until a wooden pick inserted in the center comes out clean.
