Banana Cake

Ingredients

• Preparation of Pan: (circular - no centre)
• Grease sides of pan
• Cream together -
• 1/3 cup butter
• 1 cup brown sugar
• Spread over bottom of pan
• place sliced bananas in this sugar mixture
• dot with maraschino cherries
• Recipe for Cake Batter
• Cream together -
• 1/3 cup shortening
• 1 1/4 cup sugar
• Add 2 beaten eggs
• Sift together -
• 1 1/2 cup flour
• 1/2 tsp. baking powder
• 3/4 tsp. soda
• 1/2 tsp. salt
• Add alternately to mixture -
• 1 cup mashed bananas
• 1/2 cup sour milk
• Add 1 tsp. vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Pour into pan. Bake at 385 for 40 - 50 minutes. Turn onto cake rack to cool. Before serving fill centre with 1 cup sweetened whipped cream mixed with 1/2 cup mashed bananas.
