Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp dark corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 tsp. ground cinnammon
  • 1 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar, for coating

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375. In a large bowl mix butter, sugar, egg, corn syrup and molasses together. Beat on low speed until blended. Add dry ingredients and stir until moistened. Roll into 1 1/2 inch balls. Put the remaining sugar into a small bowl. Roll the balls in the sugar to coat. Arrange on cookie sheet 2 inches apart. Bake for 9 to 12 minutes. Cool completely on wax paper ad store in airtight container.

*note - pull them ot of the oven when they seem undercooked or they will end up hard.
