Ingredients

  • Starter:
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 3 T potato flakes
  • I cup warm water
  • Bread:
  • 1 cup starter
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1 T salt
  • 1 1/2 cup warm water
  • 6 c bread flour

Preparation

Step 1

Mix. Put in greased bowl and cover with foil. Let stand overnight.
In morning punch down.
Make rolls or loaves.
Put in greased pans.
Let rise 4-6 hours.

Bake at 350 degrees for 23-30 minutes.

Note:
Sour Dough Culture
Stir culture before you remove the amount necessary for bread
Let this come to room temperature by placing it, lightly covered, in a bowl of hot water for 1 hour
Add equal parts of all purpose flour and warm water to remaining culture
Mix, cover lightly and put in a warm place for 5 hours or until it bubbles
Stir, take out 1 cup, cover and refrigerate
Renew culture often or it'll die (approximately once every week)
