- 1 lb. powdered sugar

Step 1
Beat egg whites, 1/2 c. of warm water and cream of tartar. Gradually add in powdered sugar and mix until blended. Increase speed on mixer and beat until thick and glossy.
Add water as needed for desired consistency for spreading and piping.
Use immediately or refrigerate in a covered or plastic sealed container. Beat icing to soften before using.
Use food coloring for various colors.
