Preparation

Step 1

Place ingredients in the pan of the bread machine in the order as listed in this recipe, or as recommended by the manufacturer. Select dough cycle; press Start.

After the dough has doubled in size turn it out onto a lightly floured surface, cover and let rest for 10 minutes. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon.

Roll dough into a 16x21 inch rectangle. Spread dough with 1/3 cup of the softened butter, and sprinkle evenly with sugar/cinnamon mixture. Roll up dough and cut into 12 rolls.

Place rolls in a lightly greased 9x15 inch baking pan. The unbaked cinnamon rolls should not touch each other before rising and baking. Do not pack the unbaked cinnamon rolls together.

Cover and let rise in an un-heated oven, until nearly doubled, for 45 minutes.

Meanwhile, preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).

Bake the rolls for about 18 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown. You will know the rolls are done when…...they are golden brown on top; they sound hollow when gently hit with a wooden spoon; the outside of the rolls feel firm (and not doughy) to the touch.

While rolls are baking, beat together cream cheese, 1/4 cup butter, confectioners' sugar, vanilla extract and salt.

As soon as you take them out of the oven, flip the pan over onto a cookie sheet pan for 15 minutes which allows all of the yummy cinnamon drippings to recoat the rolls. After 15 minutes, flip pan back over.

Spread frosting on warm rolls before serving.

Also, you can try carefully pulling rolls apart before frosting.
