Buttermilk Syrup
By Addie
This syrup is so yummy! We made these waffles the other day and I had no syrup! So I hurried and found one on allrecipes. We loved it. It is a little sweet, but my kids thought they were in heaven. It is easy to whip up and the ingredients tend to be what I have on hand, except I didn't have buttermilk (ironic, since it is buttermilk syrup!), but you can easily make your own. I included a how to at the bottom of the recipe.

Preparation
Step 1
Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add in sugar, buttermilk, vanilla, corn syrup and cinnamon. Bring to a boil. Once it is simmering, whisk in the baking soda and cook for 10 seconds. Watch carefully because this expands and can easily spill over. Remove from heat; serve warm. This can be refrigerated for a couple weeks, just stir or shake before using.
*If you don't have buttermilk, you can easily make your own. Place 1 TBSP lemon juice in a 1 cup measuring cup. Fill the rest of the cup with milk. Let sit for about 10 minutes, when the milk begins to curdle a little. Now you have buttermilk! Ratio is 1 TBSP lemon juice per 1 cup milk, you can adjust to desired amount.
