    lbs. prunes

  • (pitted)

  • 2

    tbsp. lemon juice

  • 1

    cup sugar

  • dash of salt

  • Dough:

  • 1

    cup brown sugar

  • 1

    cup white sugar

  • 1

    lb. crisco

  • 5

    eggs

  • 1

    cup milk

  • 1

    tsp. vanilla

  • 1

    tsp. salt

  • Flour - enough to make a soft dough

  • (9 cups)

  • 2

    tsp. baking powder

Directions

Boil prunes with enough water to cover them. Boil slowly until swollen and soft. Do not drain. Mash prunes in juice. Add sugar, lemon juice and salt. Cool. Dough: Mix together and cream brown sugar, white sugar and crisco. Add eggs, milk vanilla and salt. Add flour and baking powder. Spread dough onto a greased pan thinly . Prick with fork. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes. 5-6 layers. Spread prunes on when a layer comes out of the oven. Ice with PINK icing.
