Ingredients

    tsp. butter

  • 1

    lb. ground beef

  • 3

    medium onions

  • 14 oz. can tomatoes

  • salt, pepper and sweet

  • basil to taste

  • 1/2

    bay leaf

  • 6

    cups beef stock

  • 3

    medium carrots, sliced

  • 3

    medium potatoes, sliced

  • 3

    celery stalks, sliced

  • 1/4

    cup small sea-shell pasta

  • Worcestershire and tabasco to taste.

Directions

Melt butter, add beef amd cook slightly. Add onions tomatoes, salt, pepper, basil, bay leaf and beef stock. Bring to a boil, cover and simmer for 1 hour. Add remaining vegetables and cook 1 hour longer. Stir in shells during the last 12 - 15 minutes of cooking. Correct seasonings,. Remove bay leaf. Test shells to see if tender. Serve hot. You can add 6-7 cups cabbage for variety.cooking time approximately 2 1/2 hours. Serves 12
