Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground lean beef
  • 1 lg. onion, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 3 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. all spice
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 1 can kidney beans
  • salt and pepper
  • 6 french rolls (3-5 inches)
  • 6 thin slices provolone
  • 1/2 cup sour cream

Step 1

1. Brown meat - 5 min. add onion, garlic stir until onions are gender
2. Reduce heat and stir in chili powder, cumin, all spice. stir until well coated, 1-2 minutes
3. add tomato sauce and beans, simmer uncovered until sauce is thick and beans are hot, 5-10 minutes, add salt and pepper to taste.
4. slice through each roll half way in from top. lift off portion and hollow out inside making a shell. Pull soft bread from top to make a lid.
5. bake rolls at 400 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
6. spoon hot chili into rolls. Top with cheese and replace lid.
7. return to oven and bake 2-3 minutes more

serve hot with sour cream
