Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup chopped almonds, toasted

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350°

Cream butter, sugar and brown sugar in the large bowl of a electric mixer.
Add vanilla and egg yolk; Mix in flour and salt.

Spread mixture evenly onto a non-greased 16 X 12-inch baking pan and bake for 10-12 minutes, turning sheet from front to back after 6 minutes.

Remove from oven; let rest for 2 minutes.
Sprinkle chocolate chips over top and let stand for 5 additonal minutes.

Spread smooth with a spatula and top with almonds.

Let sit for several hours before cutting into 2-inch squares. (refrigerate to firm, if needed)
