Steakhouse Sauce (Paula Deen)


Makes 2 c. Use with bourbon beef tenderloin or other recipes.

  • 2 t vegetable oil
  • 1/2 c finely chopped yellow onion
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 c bourbon
  • 1/2 c Worcestershire sauce
  • 3/4 t cornstarch
  • 12 oz bottle chili sauce
  • 1/4 c soy sauce
  • 2 T stone ground mustard
  • 1/2 t ground black pepper
  • 12 t ground cumin



Step 1

In med pan heat oil over med high heat. Add onion & garlic. Cook for 10 min until onion is tender. Add bourbon & increase heat to med high; cook about 5 min until liquid has nearly evaporated.

In sm bowl stir together Worcestershire sauce & cornstarch until smooth. Add Worcestershire mixture, chili sauce & remaining 4 ingredients to onion mixture stirring until combined. Bring to boil; reduce heat to med & cook stirring constantly to prevent scorching, 6-8 min. Let cool before serving.
