PERFECT APPLE TWIST

Ingredients
- 1 Sheet puffed pastry-thawed
- 1/2 can apple pie filling
- 4 oz. cream cheese room temperature
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. lemon juice
- 1 egg
- 2 TBLSP. water
- Powdered Sugar for dusting before serving

Step 1
Unfold puffed pastry and roll out until about 1/4 inch thick.You should still see the lines where it was folded. On the two outer thirds of the pastry, cut diagonally into strips about 1/2 to 3/4 inches wide, do not detach them from the middle third. Each side MUST be cut in same direction. This will leave the middle third completely solid, and the sides will have strips.
Mix together the cream cheese, sugar, vanilla and lemon juice until well combined. Spread this mixture over the middle 1/3 of the pastry
Top this with the apple pie filling. If you want to use more than the 1/2 a can, feel free...its a personal preference on how much filling you want.
Alternate folding over the strips that you made from the outer thirds..one from the left,one from the right...and so on, until they are all folded over the middle third, making it look braided or "twisted". You may have a couple of extra strips,m and that is fine, just cut them off and roll them in cinnamon sugar and bake them alongside the apple twist, for a yummy snack later.
Mix the egg and water together in a small dish and use as an egg wash over the top of the pastry.
Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes until pastry is completely cooked and puffy.
Top with a dusting of powdered sugar before serving.
