Light Grilled Cheese Sandwiches | The Dr. Oz Show

Delicious, and easy to make, it’s no wonder that grilled cheese is the ultimate go-to comfort food. Unfortunately, butter, cheese and bread are not the healthiest of ingredients. Chef Danny Boome has created three healthy alternatives to the traditional grilled cheese sandwich. See which one is right for you!

- 2 slices light whole wheat bread
- 2 tsp olive oil
- 1 tomato sliced
- 1 oz Parmesan, grated
- 4 oz part-skim or low-fat cheddar, grated
- 1 tsp malt vinegar

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to broil setting.
Place the two pieces of bread onto a baking tray and lightly drizzle both sides with olive oil. Then place baking tray into the oven and let the slices of bread gently brown. (This should take about 3-4minutes)
Once the bread has toasted on both sides take out of the oven and set aside to rest.
In a mixing bowl blend both the Parmesan and Cheddar cheese together.
Depending on how big your tomato is, add 2-4 slices on to each slice of toast.
Sprinkle the mixed cheese over the tomato, covering the edges, and place the baking tray back into the oven.
As soon as the cheese has melted and is bubbling hot! Pull out of the oven and place on a plate, splash with a little malt vinegar and serve!
