Ingredients
- 1/4 cup soft butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 large egg
- 3 peeled shredded apples
- 1 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup cream
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 3/4 teaspoon rum flavoring

Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream the butter and sugar. Add eggs and apples. Mix in flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking soda, salt, and walnuts. Bake 40 minutes in a 9" square pan.
Rum Sauce : in a small suacepan, over medium heat, combine sugar, cream, and butter, cooking for 10-15 minutes, until sugar dissolves --- do not boil. Add nutmeg and rum flavoring.
Serve cake with hot rum sauce and ice cream.
