Ingredients

  • 1 box of yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups creamy peanut butter, divided
  • 1 cup caramel topping (the kind you use on ice cream)
  • 1 stick butter, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Grease a 9x13 baking dish. Set aside.

In a mixing bowl, beat the cake mix, vegetable oil, egg, milk and one cup of peanut butter with an electric mixer until smooth. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake 15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.

Remove from oven and immediately drizzle the caramel sauce down over the top. Allow to cool completely before frosting.

To make the frosting, beat the softened butter and remaining half a cup of peanut butter with the powdered sugar and milk. Add more milk if the frosting is too thick and more sugar if it's too thin. Once frosting reaches the desired consistency, frost cooled bars.

Cut into squares and serve. When you're not enjoying them, keep the bars in the fridge.
