Need a quick and easy dinner? Try this 20-minute macaroni and cheese recipe. You can make it a balanced meal by adding a serving of your favorite vegetable, fresh fruit, and milk.
1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook macaroni according to package directions or desired consistency.
3. Add torn cheese, margarine, and butter to a large skillet and place over medium heat.
4 Stir as soon as the cheese begins to melt to avoid burning. Cook until cheese is melted and ingredients are well incorporated.
5. Pour cheese sauce over drained pasta. Stir until macaroni is evenly coated. Serve immediately. Note: sauce will thicken as it sits.
I typically use shell shaped pasta to make this recipe. My son likes how the shells fill up with the cheese sauce. I didn’t have shells on hand, so I made it with penne pasta instead. Make it easy, use whatever pasta you have in your pantry. You can decrease the amount of milk for a thicker cheese sauce. How do you adapt your recipes?
