Ingredients
- 1 32 oz can sauer kraut
- 1/2 C yellow split peas
- 1/2 lb bacon, 12 slices
- 1 medium onion chopped
- black pepper

Preparation
Step 1
Rinse and cover peas with water
and then bring to boil and then simmer 30 minutes. May add water if sticking. Mash with a fork.
Drain Sauer kraut but save juice.
Cover with 3 to 4 C cold water, then bring to boil.
Simmer for 1/2 hour. Then drain
Fry bacon until crisp
Put drippings in a bowl, wipe pan with paper towel
Add clean drippings and add chopped onion
Cook slow till onion is soft, then crumble 3 slices of the bacon
When kraut is hot add split peas and bacon and onions.
Stir in juice if not sour enough to taste.
