  • 2 cups cake flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 4 tablespoons water

Step 1

Butter a 9-inch fancy tube-type pan. Dust with bread crumbs. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until smooth and blended. Add the eggs and brandy and beat until light and lemon colored. Combine the flour and baking powder. Mix into the cake batter and beat until smooth and light, adding water 1 tablespoon at a time. Pour into the prepared pan

Bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean. Remove from the oven, let cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then turn out onto a rack and cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
