Ingredients
- 2 cups sliced smoked sausage
- 1 cup each chopped onion and green bell pepper
- 1 large clove garlic, minced
- 2 cups chopped ham
- 1 (14 1/2-ounce) can diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/3 cup tomato juice
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon each dried basil, marjoram, paprika and hot pepper sauce
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 1 cup long-grain rice

Step 1
1Place sausage in a large skillet. Sauté over medium-high heat, stirring continually, for 10 minutes. Remove with slotted spoon to paper towels.
.2Add onion, bell pepper and garlic to pan drippings. Sauté, stirring continually, until tender, about 5 minutes.
.3Add sausage, ham, tomatoes, broth, tomato juice, salt, thyme, basil, marjoram, paprika and hot pepper sauce to onion mixture and mix well.
.4Bring mixture to a boil. Reduce heat to low. Add parsley and rice and mix well; cover. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 25 minutes.
