This recipe was created by my grandmother, Ernestine Jones. It’s one of the very few things that she ever wrote down because she was a “by sight” cook. She didn't need recipes. I cherish this recipe with all my heart.

Ingredients

  • MEAT LOAF:
  • 1 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 4 Tablespoon ketchup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • ..................................
  • SAUCE:
  • 4 Tablespoons vinegar
  • 4 Tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat to 325*F.


Mix all of the meatload ingredients together in a large bowl and shape into a 9x5" loaf pan.


In a small saucepan, mix together all sauce ingredients and bring to a boil. Lower the heat and let simmer for 2 minutes. Pour over meatloaf and bake for 1 hour.
