Ingredients
- 1 box (181/4 oz.) chocolate cake mix
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 3 tbsp. cherry-flavored brandy or cherry-flavored coffee syrup, divided
- 11/2 cups heavy whipping cream1 tsp. sugar
- 1 can (21 oz.) cherry pie filling
- 1 square (1 oz.) semisweet chocolate, shaved
- 1 oz. white chocolate, shaved

Step 1
1Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray the bottoms of two9-inch cake pans with nonstick cooking spray.
.2Place the cake mix, 11/4 cups water, the oil and eggs in a large bowl. Beat with an electric mixer set on medium speed until combined, about 2 minutes. Divide the batter between the prepared pans. Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, 25–30 minutes. Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
.3Brush the cakes with 2 tbsp. brandy. Place the cream, remaining brandy and the sugar in a large bowl. Beat on high speed until stiff peaks form.
.4Place 1 cake layer on a large platter. Top with half of the pie filling, 11/2 cups whipped cream (pipe the whipped cream, if desired) and the remaining cake layer. Spoon the remaining pie fillingover the top layer to within 1 inch of edge.
.5Place the remaining whipped cream in a pastry bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe the whipped cream around the top edge of the cake. Sprinkle with the shaved chocolates.
