Ingredients
- vanilla wafer crumbs for coating pans
- 1 1/4 cups cake flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/3 cup softened butter
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 eggs, separated
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips or 4 ounces semisweet chocolate, melted
- 1/2 cup heavy cream

Butter a 9-inch fancy ring mold. Dust evenly with vanilla wafer crumbs. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees.
In a small bowl, stir the flour and baking powder together. In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter with the sugar; add the egg yolks vanilla and chocolate; beat until light and fluffy. Add the cream alternately with the flour mixture. Whip the egg whites until stiff and fold into the mixture.
Pour into the prepared cake pan. Bake for 50 minutes or until the cake tests done. Let cool in the pan for 5 minutes, turn out onto a rack, and finish cooling.
