REVIEWS:

This was excellent. Followed the directions from another reviewer and halved the salt, sugar and oil and added 1/2 c. water. Heated the water, vinegar & sugar until sugar dissolves. Also, added minced garlic and left out celery seed. This recipe will be a keeper!

Excellent, tastes just like Kraft (commercial) Catalina dressing, nice & thick. Tastes best on 2nd day. Keeps well.

Truly easy and very similar to Krafts! Good job!!

Following the advice of other reviewers, I halved the sugar and oil, added garlic and pepper, and also added a dash of Asian red pepper sauce. It tastes just like it!

I make this with half the sugar, half the salt, half the oil (add water instead) and I boil the sugar, vinegar and water until the sugar dissolves, then add the oil, the grated onion and the dry ingredients. Finally, I add a little garlic, dried or minced, because it's on the ingredients on the Kraft Catalina bottle. If you taste test without the garlic against the real thing, you'll see what I mean.

Very good! I was pleasantly surprised by the taste and consistency of this dressing. It was very close to the original (sweet and tangy), but the celery seed made it taste a bit weird. I might suggest adding some cayenne and/or black pepper if you like your Catalina a bit spicy.

Too sweet. If I make it again, I will decrease the sugar and only use a 1/2 cup.
