Love this recipe!!! I make this for my teenage son, and if you know anything about boys, they will eat anything in sight!!! I make a few adjustments -- I use 2 slices of pepperoni, and a larger cut of mozzerella cheese.
Well, I "tried" to unroll this PIZZA DOUGH, and follow directions; perhaps it ws due to a hot 85 degree house, hot outside. It went everywhere, so I just pushed the dough together, cut it lengthwise, and 3 cuts width, making 8 rolls. Then I added, cheese, topped wtih other agreements, baked 18 minutes, checking it often. All in all, they did NOT look anything like these pretty roll ups, but they were very delicious! Just too funny, what we will endeavour in the kitchens, making meals good, and adding different items to our meals!
Hormel makes a thing called Mini Pepperonis. They come in a bag and can be found in the refrigerated meat section. One bag should cover this recipe and then some. Also, you can add several pieces to the batch, so you don't eat the entire pepperoni in one bite.
Fixed these for our Super Bowl Party this evening..they were very good, except that I did put a smear of pizza sauce on the crust square before adding the pepperoni and mozzarella.
I recommend that this recipe be made with the Pillsbury Thin Pizza Crusts instead of the larger Pillsbury Classic Pizza Crusts. A bit less crust makes them just perfect! (I am the original author of this recipe from the 2000 Bake-Off!) Be sure to use EVOO as your oil, too. Enjoy...this is a great Super Bowl recipe.
I saw this and just had to try it for my family. So I made it for my sisters and my two kids and we all loved it. You just have to make sure that you dough is closed off very well. My sisters just keeps asking me when is the next time you going to make the stuff pizza again? So I'm going to be making this for a while, and keeping this with my other recipes.
I made these for a football party and they were a touchdown! Everyone raved about them! Be sure to seal the dough REALLY well or else the cheese will be stuck to the pan. I used frozen dinner roll dough instead of the pizza dough and it worked really well.
I've made these twice in one week. My family loved them! I used the refrigerated garlic breadstick dough and string cheese(cut each piece into 6 pieces). A little time consuming, but worth it. And the kids helped! Only had to bake them for about 8 min. They brown really fast!
They were a little too much crust. The kids did like them though. Made them for my family of 5 and we had way too many. Maybe good for a party.
Time-consuming because they did not want to stay closed. I will still make them again because everyone loved them. Someone even asked where I had bought them! I used mozzarella cheese sticks and cut them into pieces. Next time i will buy mozzarella pearls to save time.
The first time I made this for my family it was a smash hit! Will definitely keep this for my recipe book...
There is an easier way to do this... instead of pizza crust use the italian breadsticks that have the garlic and herb spread in them. and use cut up string cheese instead of a block! But these are delicious I make them at least 2x a month!
This is a great recipe. I used 12 cheese sticks cut into 48 pieces. YUMMY!!!
Great but definitely not going to make my own dough next time too messy. But will make over & over.
I made these with my daughter, and they were so easy to make, and they tasted so good!!! We will definitely make these again!! It's was a fun and new way to eat pizza!!
