Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 2 tsp ginger
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 3/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp cloves
  • 1/4 salt
  • 3/4 cup margarine or shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup of molasses
  • 2 tbs sugar- to roll formed cookies in.

Preparation

Step 1

Bake at 350° for 10-12 minutes on ungreased cookie sheet.

Beat margarine and sugar until fluffy, add eggs, molasses and beat well.

Add dry ingredients and mix.

Shape into balls and roll into sugar, place on ungreased cookie sheet bake until light brown and puffed.

Remove from oven and let stand for 2 minutes, place on wire rack to cool.
