Ingredients

  • 4 green bell peppers
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tsp seasoned salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 cup crushed Wheaties
  • 1/2 Seasoning packet from Rice-a-Roni Spanish Rice
  • 2 Tbs. rice and vermicelli from Rice-a-Roni Spanish Rice
  • 1 Tablespoon tomato paste
  • 28 ounce can whole tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup red wine (optional)

Preparation

Step 1

Remove tops and seeds from peppers, set aside.
Combine next 7 ingredients (do not overmix).
Stuff meat mixture into peppers. Place peppers in large stock pot.
Pour tomatoes and liquid around stuffed peppers.
Add wine to empty tomato can, add water to within one inch of top of can. Add wine/water mixture to liquid in stock pot.
Cook to boiling, cover and simmer 1 hour.
Serve with bread or noodles, using liquid as a thin gravy if desired.
