Ingredients

  • 1 medium head cabbage, sliced or chopped
  • 1-1/2 lbs. ground beef
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1/4 cup green pepper, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 2/3 cup long grain rice, uncooked
  • 1 can cream of tomato soup
  • 2 cans water
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Lightly oil glass baking dish. Do not use a metal pan. Layer cabbage on bottom of a 9x13-inch pan.

Brown ground beef, onion, green pepper. Drain Add sauce, seasonings and rice to meat mixture. Spread over cabbage.

Sauce:
Mix together 1 can cream of tomato soup, 2 cans water and 1 tablespoon brown sugar.

Pour sauce over mixture. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 1-1/2 hours.
