Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 slices Colby cheese
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
- 4 kaiser rolls, split, toasted
- 4 leaves lettuce
- 4 slices beefsteak tomato
- 4 slices red onion

Step 1
Preheat grill to medium. Place rack 6 inches from heat.
Shape ground beef into 4 patties. Sprinkle with salt and black pepper.
Grill patties until juices run clear when meat is pierced with a knife, about 5 minutes per side. Top each with a slice of Colby; keep warm.
Combine the mayonnaise, soy sauce, dry mustard and garlic powder in a small bowl and mix well.
Spread mayonnaise mixture on cut sides of rolls. Place a lettuce leaf and a pattie on bottom of each roll. Top with tomato, onion and top of roll.

Grandma's Secret Tips!
Grandma often grilled the kaiser rolls while the burgers were cooking. She split the rolls and placed them cut sides down on the grill or cut sides up under a broiler. She then grilled or broiled them until she saw grill marks, which took just a few minutes.
