Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp Milk
  • 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups Quick Cooking Oats, uncooked
  • 3/4 cup Dates, pitted
  • 1 cup All Purpose Flour
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1/4 cup Unsalted Butter
  • 3/4 cup Brown Sugar, packed firmly
  • 1/8 tsp Ground Cloves, ground
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 tsp Ground Ginger
  • 2 Egg Whites
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar, sifted
  • 1/2 cup Boiling Water

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375°. Sift together first 5 ingredients in bowl and stir in oats. In food processor, combine brown sugar and dates. Process until dates are finely chopped. Add boiling water and butter. Process until mixture is smooth. Add egg, egg whites, and vanilla to date mixture. Process to blend. Transfer date mixture to flour mixture. Mix thoroughly by hand. Lightly butter 9x13 in. baking dish. Transfer mixture to baking dish. Bake 18-20 minutes, or until tester comes out clean when inserted in center. Transfer to wire rack to cool 5 minutes. Combine powdered sugar, milk and vanilla in bowl. Mix thoroughly. Spread frosting over bars. Cool completely before serving.
