Ingredients

  • 5 slices white bread, cut into cubes (about 4 cups, lightly packed)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

Step 1

Arrange bread cubes evenly in bottom of 8-inch round glass baking dish, Sprinkle evenly with brown sugar, then raisins. Set aside.

Measure milk into 4-cup measuring cup. Add butter and microwave 4 - 5 minutes, or until milk is warm and butter melted. Rapidly beat in eggs and salt with a fork.

Pour mixture over bread cubes, then sprinkle nutmeg evenly over top. Microwave, uncovered 9 - 12 minutes, rotating dish 1/2 turn after 6 minutes. When cooked, center will still be slightly soft, but pudding will set up as it cools.
