Bourbon-Sauced Pork Chops

By

Prize-Tested Recipe winner Chris Gegorek put together all of his favorite ingredients to create a sauce that’s got just “the right tangy-spicy flavor combination.” We think he did pretty well. Brush it on your pork for an unbeatable chop.

This has to be on of my NEW favorite Pork Chop recipes. I found it in this month’s issue of Better Home & Gardens. This recipe happens to be one of their winners for a BHG grilling contest.

If you don’t know already, I love to cook and try out new recipes. I also experiment a lot with food. My Hubby has lived through some not so amazing dishes. God Bless Him. I have toned it down a bit since having kids.

This recipe was perfect on it’s own and need no adjustments from the original write up. It is so very yummy and easy. I did substitute the bourbon for apple juice. We don’t have hard liquor in the house and it came out delicious.

Preparation

Step 1

For sauce combine first 7 ingredients - bring to boiling, reduce heat. Simmer uncovered about 10 minutes or until reduced to 1/2 cup. Combine water and cornstarch, stir into bourbon mixture. Cook and stir until slightly thickened and bubbly; cook and stir 2 minutes more

Grill chops covered directly over medium heat for 14 - 16 minutes or until internal temp reaches 145 degrees. Turn once halfway through grilling. Brush occasionally with the sauce during last 5 minutes of grilling time.

If desired, serve chops with broccolini or mashed potatoes drizzled with any unused sauce.

REVIEW:

Only one word is needed to describe the taste - Wow. The meat was so moist and the flavor of the sauce was perfect. Nice and tangy and a little spicy. The thought of this dinner puts a smile on my face! Does that sound silly? If you tasted these pork chops you would not think it was silly at all. For sides we had grilled zucchini and grilled fingerling potatoes.
