Ingredients
- 1 1/2 C sugar
- 3 C cold water
- 1 1/2 C fresh lemon juice (8 lemons)
- 1 Tbs grated lemon zest
- 1/2 C fresh mint leaves (optional garnish)
- Ice cubes
- 3 large lemons sliced (optional)

Preparation
Step 1
Bring sugar and 2 C water to a boil, stirring until sugar dissolves. Boil for 5 minutes. Stir in lemon juice, zest and mint leaves. Remove from heat, cover and let stand 30 minutes. Strain lemonade into a 2 quart pitcher. Stir in remaining water. Cover with plastic wrap and chill 2 hours or overnight. Garnish with lemon slices and mint.
Makes 1 ¼ quarts
