  • 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 c each: rye whiskey,ketchup,dark brown sugar,cider vinegar
  • 3 Tbsp Worchestershire sauce
  • 2 Tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 Tbsp each:balsamic vinegar,Sriracha sauce(Asian hot sauce)
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 Tbsp cocoa powder



Step 1

Combine tomatoes,rye,ketchup,sugar,vinegars,sriracha,paprika and pepper
Cook until mixture starts to bubble
Reduce to gentle simmer
Cook,stirring often for 25 min
Puree sauce with immersion blender
Sift in cocoa,whisking until combined
Refrigerate up to 2 weeks
