Ingredients

  • 2 strips of bacon
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
  • 1/2 chopped green pepper
  • 1 chopped celery rib
  • 1 16 ounce can of chopped tomatoes
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 pound peeled medium shrimp

Preparation

Step 1

Cook bacon in large skillet then place on paper towel - leave one tablespon of drippings in skillet.

Over medium heat, cook onion, pepper, and celery for 5 minutes or until tender.

Stir in garlic and cook for one minute.

Add tomatoes (with juice), bay leaf, black pepper, worcestershire sauce, and hot pepper sauce.

Heat to boiling.

Reduce heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes.

Add shrimp and crumbled bacon and cook for 10 minutes.

Discard bay leaf before serving - serve over rice.


Can substitute sea scallops for shrimp if desired.
