Preparation
Step 1
In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, water, peanut butter, oil and eggs; beat on low speed for 30 seconds. Beat on medium for 2 minutes or until smooth.
Fill paper-lined muffin cups half full. Place a peanut butter cup in the center of each cupcake. Cover each with 1 tablespoonful batter.
Bake at 350° for 18-22 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center of the cupcake comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks to cool completely.
Place chocolate in a small bowl. In a small saucepan, bring cream just to a boil. Pour over chocolate; whisk until smooth. Stir in peanut butter. Cool, stirring occasionally, to room temperature or until mixture reaches a spreading consistency, about 10 minutes.
Spread over cupcakes; immediately sprinkle with additional peanut butter cups. Let stand until set. Yield: 2 dozen.
Editor's Note: Reduced-fat peanut butter is not recommended for this recipe.

To Die For!
This is my family's new favorite dessert!
I made these for a friend, who loves Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and she LOVED them! These are my all time favorite cupcakes!!!
Very Moist... and can never go wrong with a peanut butter chocolate ganache.
Very good! Worth all the time spent unwrapping peanut butter cups!
Delicious!
Delicious! My family loved it and I will definitely make them again. Mine even looked like the ones in the picture! Thanks.
Beautiful cupcakes, and delicious too! I spread a little leftover frosting on a banana and it was very tasty as well :)
Everyone loved these. I frosted them with peanut butter frosting and then drizzled the chocolate ganache over the pb frosting...yummy!
These were the most amazing smelling cupcakes ever! It is probably a good thing that I am allergic to chocolate, dairy, wheat and peanut butter or these would have definitely made me gain weight! I made them for gifts for my family, and they were all amazed. My Mom is the ultimate "chocoholic" and an amazing cook. She couldn't believe how good these cupcakes were! Even my boyfriend's four year old granddaughter said: "That is the BEST frosting I have ever tasted!" I love Taste of Home!
Love this recipe! Everyone enjoyed them!
So rich and delicious, they were a big hit!
Very good, have request to make for school party.
I made these for a bake sale my students were having and they loved them! They sold every one of them. I'm so glad I saved two for my husband and myself!
Yikes, I have everything but the pb cups. My mouth is watering just reading about these. Yum
I made these for my adult daughter's family birthday party! Everyone loved them!!
Awesome recipe!!! I did double the frosting recipe though to have more on the top of each cupcake!
I have to stop reading now. I think I just gained 10 lbs.
These are delicious, I use a similar recipe. I fill the muffin cups as you would normally, then just push the peanut butter cup in until it reaches half way, then completely cover it. Make sure you dont go all the way to the bottom of the cup.
My son said this is the best dessert ever! A little time consuming, but, very well worth the effort.I will definitely make these again and again.
I made these cupcakes for a large group & they went over very very well.
I love this receipe! It is amazingly awesome!
I used milk chocolate instead of semi sweet for the frosting. I prefer sweet to bitter, but they were excellent! I took them to work and they were a huge hit.
