Ingredients

  • 1 lb hamburg
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 stalks celery
  • 1 green pepper
  • 28 oz can tomatoes
  • 10 oz can mushrooms
  • 5 oz can tomato paste
  • 7 oz can tomato sauce
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 tsp steak spice
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 2 tsp vinegar
  • 1/4 cup red wine, optional
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp dry mustard
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup barbecue sauce, optional

Preparation

Step 1

Brown hamburg, add onion, celery and green pepper and cook 5-10 minutes. Add tomatoes, mushrooms, tomato paste and tomato sauce. Cook 15 minutes. Add all seasonings and simmer at least 30 minutes longer.
