Ingredients

  • 1 lb raisins
  • 3/4 lb cherries, red and green
  • 1/2 lb citron peel
  • 3/4 lb mixed peel
  • 1/2 lb almonds (about 1 1/2 cups)
  • 1 cup margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 6 eggs, unbeaten
  • 2 1/8 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1 tsp almond flavouring

Step 1

Cream margarine and sugar. Add eggs. Alternately add dry and wet ingredients. Add cleaned and floured fruit and nuts. Add almond flavouring. Line pans with brown paper and wax paper. ake 3 hours in 300°F oven. Makes 1 8" square and 1 4" square or 1 10" square. 1/2 recipe makes 1 6" cake.
