Ingredients

  • l pound quartered rinsed husked tomatillos
  • 1/2 coarsely chopped medium onion
  • 1 smashed garlic clove
  • 1 coarsely chopped Serrano chile (seeds removed, if desired)
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro leaves with tender stems

Preparation

Step 1

Puree the tomatillos in either a food processor or food blender. Then add the onion, garlic, chile and cilantro. Add water as needed until smooth; season with salt.

You can add an avocado if salsa is too thin or for additional flavor and color.

Serve immediately or chilled.

Stores well for 2 weeks.
