Ok, the coke really works...gave it some really good flavor however don't use the drippings to make gravy (I found it way too sweet). Also, I cooked mine for 4-1/2 hours and it seemed a little too done...less time is needed, use a meat thermometer and get it just right (probably would have been perfect at about 3-1/2 to 4 hours).
I just made this recipe for company. I was a little nervous making a new recipe for company but it was GREAT!! Been making pot roast for ever but never had one tastier. Will always use this recipe from now on. Thank you:)
This is so good and so easy. I love this receipe! I do add potato and veggies as well to the crock pot. I've served this easy dish many times since I found it here early this year and everyone thinks it tastes great.
Great easy recipe. Very pleasant tasting. My kids really liked this one and loved the quartered potatoes that cooked to perfection below the roast in the same pot. I set it low in the morning before I left for work and came home 6 hours later to the perfect dinner.
I am going to make pot roast in my crock pot on Saturday for the first time. Having company & don't have a pan big enough. I usually make it in a pot on the stove & I brown roast first. I use 1 can of beer & 1 envelope of Liptons dry onion soup. I also add carrots & potatoes. It makes a very delicious roast.
I used this recipe today after reading the responses. I used Pepsi instead of coke and it came out wonderfully! My husband loved it! I cooked it a day before I served it, so all the meat would be tender and juicy. Kudos for this wonderful recipe.
I am a meat and taters guy and this is the only way I'll fix pot roast again. I used the roaster in the oven at 275°F. Salt & peppered 4 lb. chuck roast then browned in iron skillet. I had a 16 oz. bottle of Coke that I poured over roast. I mixed the soup mix with 1 cup warm water to dissolve and a beef bullion cube and poured over roast. I cooked it for 4 hours then turned over and added potatoes and carrots. At 7 1/2 hours it was perfect. Meat was fall apart tender and the potatoes and carrots were were just right. So much flavor every one had seconds, amazing.
Delicious. I am a southern girl so a added sweet potatoes, carrots, onions, & a touch of brown sugar. I'm a college student so needless to say it was very easy. I had my boyfriend and his friends loving every bite.
We made the roast today and it was FANTASTIC!!! VERY MOIST AND YUMMMMMMY!!
It's really good. I made it tonight. It goes well with mustard greens and cornbread and mash potatoes.
I've always made pot roast with broth and if often comes out dry. Not so with this recipe. The Coke really works. I'll never make pot roast any other way again! Thanks for sharing.
Love love love this recipe. Never have done much of this kind of cooking so wanted to try it. Have given it to several friends and they have all tried it and loved it too. Only thing I did different was add some veggies. Very good.
Great recipe! Juicy and delicious. Make an open face sandwich with the meat and juices, try the white wine cake for dessert - it's very good also, and easy too. Turn the lights down and light a candle...
